Vision Therapy is a customized, doctor-supervised program of in-office and at-home exercises designed to improve visual skills, such as eye teaming, tracking, and focusing, often used to treat conditions like amblyopia, strabismus, and convergence insufficiency. It aims to enhance brain-eye coordination, reducing eye strain and improving reading, learning, and overall visual comfort.

A graduate of UCSD and the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Dr. Joyce has two decades of experience in the field of vision perception. His passion for vision perception has afforded him unique opportunities in research and development including work with Innovega virtual reality technology, SynergEyes hybrid contact lenses, and Gunnar computer eyewear. Dr. Joyce has helped to develop and test multiple unique lens materials and designs and brings his knowledge of cutting edge ophthalmic technology to his practice. He also has extensive clinical experience including hospitals, low vision clinics, national ophthalmic groups, and fifteen years in private practice. A native of San Diego, Dr. Joyce is happy to be practicing in Valley Center, California. Extraordinary patient care and patient education are his top priority.

Noah, a certified Vision Therapist and Ophthalmic Technician, has been working under Dr. Joyce’s guidance for almost a decade. With years of experience, he has developed a special interest in vision therapy and enjoys working with both children and adults to improve visual skills such as eye tracking, focusing, teaming and visual processing.
